Mr. Kunji N. James

Kunji N. James is a distinguished educator, translator, community leader, and development advocate whose career has been firmly rooted in service to his community and nation.

He completed his secondary education at Ghana Senior High School (GHANASCO), Tamale, in 1972. Upon graduation, he began his teaching career as a pupil teacher at Kunkunzoli E.P. Primary School in 1972 and later at Bincheretanga D/A Primary School in 1977.

Mr. James played a pivotal role in advancing literacy among the Konkomba people through his work with the Konkomba Literacy Programme, where he served first as Literacy Programme Supervisor and later as Literature Production Officer. His passion for language development and cultural preservation led him to undertake major translation projects, including translating the Old Testament from English into Likpakpaaln and producing an abridged version of the 1992 Constitution of Ghana in Likpakpaaln. These efforts greatly contributed to making key religious and national documents accessible to native Likpakpaaln speakers.

In recognition of his leadership and administrative abilities, Mr. James was appointed Manager of the Saboba/Chereponi Mutual Health Insurance Scheme, now under the National Health Insurance Authority (NHIA), where he worked to improve access to healthcare for community members.

Beyond his professional accomplishments, Mr. James has been deeply involved in community service and religious leadership. He served as Chairman of the Laity Council of the St. Charles Lwanga Catholic Church in Saboba and as Chairman of the St. Vincent de Paul Society of the St. Charles Lwanga Catholic Church in Saboba. He also served as Local Chairman of the Konkomba Youth Association (KOYA) in the Saboba District. His commitment to community development is further reflected in his service as a Board Member of the Saboba Water Project.

Through his work in education, translation, faith-based leadership, youth advocacy, and community development, Mr. Kunji N. James has demonstrated unwavering dedication to improving lives and advancing the cultural and social well-being of his community.
